I've often overlooked October

ha, I didn't mean to open with such alliteration (sp?). But I have realized that I've often scoffed over October. September rocks of course because it's got my birthday. October usually gets paired with Halloween, but that's not until the very end of the month. but lately I've been very happy it's October, and haven't been giving it the credit it deserves. :)

so...health update? still in minor pain. I called the new doctor's office as soon as it opened this morning and at first the secretary was like, "oh I probably won't get you in until the end of the week," and I told her I was in pain and would really like to see the doctor ASAP. then she turns around and says, "well I could put you in at 1:15 this afternoon if that works." haha, sure! she just warned me that I was being squeezed into the schedule, so it might be a bit of a wait. no problem, I'll bring one of the many things my life as a grad student requires that I read.

so that's that, and we'll see what comes of it.

in other news, I'm going to Tennessee this Thursday! I'm ohsohappy about it, in case you hadn't noticed. I was pretty good this weekend about getting stuff done ahead of time, but I haven't done enough prep work for an in-class essay for my class tomorrow. I'm not too nervous, but feel like I should be, you know? I'll study this afternoon before my class at 6.

Other than that, I'm pretty set. I'm going to drive straight to Alicia's after class on Thursday (12:20pm). it's about an 11-hour drive, so I'll need to rest up. then I'll leave Sunday and stay a night in Piggott, Arkansas, to see Joyce (she offered to pay for my hotel room). then I'll leave early next Monday so I get back to Irving in time for my 6pm class (eesh, right after Rush Hour...need to plan accordingly...).

as some of you may know, I love country music! and with all this museum work I've done in the last few months, it would be my dream to use this knowledge in the Country Music Hall of Fame. So I e-mailed someone there and might be able to meet with someone Friday or Saturday when I'm in town about getting my name out there. I feel like such a grown-up. :) Ugh, I can't wait to be outta school!

well, I guess that's enough for now. I'm so happy it's October. It's gonna be a good one :)
